I DO IN MY SPARE TIME. HERE'S SOME OF MY POETRY.
WALLS - Devon Retemyer
The light that reflects off your smooth shiny skin
penetrate my eyes till they burn
It is you and you alone that beleaguer me
Your eyes meet mine everywhere I turn
Even the cracks on your skin seem so perfect
passing light from another world
The light disappears then reappears
as your veil is unfurled.
Shhhh. . .the silence seems perfect
Yet I hear you whispering still
In a language that cannot be spoken
But understood only when the heart is still.
I smile as your words turn into a song
and your emotions are expressed
My ears alone cannot hear your song
For its only one the heart could ingest
Suddenly I hear a noise behind me
And it's coming from the door
I turn to ask you something
Only to realise I can hear you no more. . .
REVEAL YOURSELF - Devon Retemyer
Once you've settled down
and I look around and see what's left
I know it is then I'll see you for who you are.
When the sky's clear and the mist is gone
And you've left everything lying. . .motionless, exposed
All I see now is the beauty of it all
The droplets of water falling on the roof
Brings sweet music to my ears
The wind then joins in to complete the wonderful duet
. . .the song's so sweet,
all I do is listen
Having time for nothing else. . .I'm in awe of your beauty.
But once you've settled down. . .
I know I'll think for it will be quiet
I know I'll see for it will be clear
It is then I'll know if you are a destructive storm
Or the beautiful, gentle falling rain.
